Wegmans will open its newest location this Sunday, Sept. 23, a 120,000-square-foot store in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The store, which will open at 7 a.m., will include a plethora of fresh foodservice options, led by executive chef Keith Briggs and his group of 100 culinary employees. It is highlighted by the Burger Bar, Wegmans' family-friendly, casual restaurant that serves burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, beer and wine by the glass.

The store will also feature what the company says is authentic Italian pizza, made to order form a custom rotating brick-hearth oven, quick-fired at 800 degrees on volcanic store from Italy's Mt. Vesuvius. There will also be a made-to-order salad station.

"Shoppers from this area have been traveling to Downingtown and Harrisburg to shop at our stores for a very long time," says Jimmy Bellis, the store's manager. "That's part of what makes this opening so special for us. We felt welcome here before the first shovel was in the ground."
