CHICAGO — Rubbermaid Commercial Products LLC highlighted its new FreshWorks Produce Saver container at the 2018 National Restaurant Association Show.

The container is perfect for back-of-the-house instore deli applications, Daniel Murff, an end user specialist for Huntersville, North Carolina-based Rubbermaid, said at the show.

The FreshWorks Produce Saver, which will come on the market soon, helps prevent shrink of fresh fruits and vegetables, Murff said. The product features a filter that naturally regulates the flow of oxygen, extending contents’ shelf life.

A built-in drain tray also promotes air flow while keeping produce elevated from residual moisture. The Fresh Works Produce Saver also features an air-tight lid that’s easy to open and close, and containers can nest with standard food boxes for easy storage, Murff said.

The FreshWorks Produce Saver can extend the shelf life of bell peppers by up to 50 percent, romaine by up to 100 percent and celery by up to 200 percent, according to Rubbermaid.
