People love mashed potatoes, and they’d eat them more often if they didn’t have to make them from scratch.

A survey commissioned by New Albany, Ohio-based Bob Evans Farms, which makes heat-and-eat potato and other side dishes and main dishes sold in grocery prepared foods departments, found that 67 percent of consumers serve or eat mashed potatoes at least once a month. Forty-one percent said they’d be more likely to serve them if they didn’t have to make them from scratch.

Those with children are even more likely to serve or eat mashed potatoes at least once a month, according to the survey; 71 percent said they do. They would also be more likely (46 percent) to served mashed more frequently if they didn’t have to make them. Millennials (45 percent) and gen x-ers (42 percent) also would be more likely. Just 37 percent of baby boomers, however, would be.

Bob Evans Farms’ heat-and-eat mashed potato products come in several varieties, including Original, Garlic, Sour Cream & Chive, Buttermilk Red Skin, Loaded and Cheddar.
