Rubicon Bakers, which hires people with significant barriers to employment, has a new product in time for the holidays.

Richmond, California-based Rubicon’s Peppermint Fudge Layer Cake will join the company’s roster of more than 50 hand-finished baked goods sold at specialty and traditional grocery stores nationwide.

Rubicon hires people who have been incarcerated, homeless or recently recovered from substance abuse. Its products, made with all-natural, clean ingredients, are marketed under the “Bake A Better World” tagline.

The six-inch Peppermint Fudge Layer Cake will retail for a suggested $12.99. Rubicon calls it a “classic chocolate cake” with candy cane filling and frosting and drizzled with a rich chocolate glaze.

“With Rubicon Bakers’ treats in more than 2,500 stores across the country, we’re thrilled to reach millions of consumers,” says Andrew Stoloff, Rubicon’s president. “The holidays are a time to connect with family, friends and community, and we hope our desserts can bring a little extra delight into everyone’s lives this holiday season.”
