The vast majority of Publix grocery stores in hurricane-ravaged Florida were open by Sept. 12.

Just 22 of Publix’s 776 Florida stores were closed as of the morning of Sept. 12 due to Hurricane Irma, according to the company’s website. Publix is the state’s No. 1 grocer. Stores were either open normal hours or closing at 5 p.m.

Other leading Florida grocers, meanwhile, were struggling to reopen. As of 8:45 p.m. Sept. 11, just four of the 358 Winn-Dixie stores in Florida had reopened. Winn-Dixie is Florida’s second-largest grocer.

And at Walmart, which has the third-most stores in the state, just 10 of its Supercenter, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market stores had reopened as of the morning of Sept. 12. According to the company’s website, there are 296 Walmart Supercenter, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market stores in the “grocery” category.
